Artem Lobov loses High Court defamation injunction bid
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Artem Lobov’s application for an injunction over alleged defamation by Conor McGregor was rejected by the High Court, in a ruling reported on 23 December 2022.
Justice Garrett Simons was not satisfied that the posts were clearly defamatory. He said the word “rat”, used in isolation, amounted to vulgar abuse, and the tweets were unlikely to harm Lobov’s reputation in the eyes of reasonable members of society. The judge also said Lobov had not set out his case in a statement of claim or sworn affidavit.
