Anthony Eccles gets legal aid in contempt of court case

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Anthony Eccles became entitled to state-funded legal aid in a High Court contempt-of-court case, reported on 15 January 2015. The Legal Aid Board agreed to cover his legal costs in proceedings over alleged breaches of orders restraining interference with water-meter installation.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott decided not to deliver judgment because the legal-aid issue had become moot. The underlying allegations remained denied and adjourned, while a similar application involving John Darcy was due before the court later that month.
