Anthony Craig remained on continuing bail until 7 October in extradition proceedings concerning his escape from lawful custody. The proceedings were reported on 19 September 2014.
Craig was arrested on 14 February 2013 on foot of an extradition warrant after UK authorities sought his surrender for escaping from lawful custody.
In July, High Court judge Mr Justice John Edwards said he had decided to surrender Craig to UK authorities. However, the surrender order had not been finalised. Craig remained on bail to allow his lawyers to consider applying for leave to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.
The report said Ms Cathleen Noctor BL, for the Minister of Justice and Equality, had told the High Court the previous week that written submissions from Craig’s lawyers had been received. Her client wished to review them, and she understood that the submissions might be modified.
Craig had been convicted of murdering another man in a park in Blackburn on 3 November 1973. The report said he served 28 years in Sudbury Prison, Derbyshire, before escaping to Ireland.
