An unnamed 41-year-old multinational-company manager pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting an 18-year-old au pair under Section 2 of the Non-fatal offences against the person Act 1997 at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The assault occurred at his Dublin home in August 2020. The proceedings were reported on 18 March 2026.

Judge Orla Crowe set a five-month headline sentence, reduced it to four months’ imprisonment, and said 80 hours of community service could be imposed if The Probation Service deemed him suitable. She ordered a probation report and adjourned sentencing to May. The manager was also ordered to pay €11,000 to the investigating garda by 5pm the following day.

Defence counsel said the victim was “absolutely blameless” and described the conduct as “a moment of insanity”.
