Andrew Rowe was given a three-year suspended sentence for possessing a firearm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence, suspending it on a number of conditions.
Rowe pleaded guilty to a possession of a firearm charge on 7 August 2020.
The report said he brought his legally held shotgun to a neighbour's 21st birthday party because he was irate about loud music.
He pointed the shotgun at a young man who answered the door and told him to keep the noise down.
Sergeant Gavin Redmond told the court Rowe threatened the young man after he asked whether the gun was real.
The shotgun was licensed, had been in Rowe's family for 30 years for hunting, and was later found unloaded in its safe.
Judge Nolan accepted the shotgun was not loaded when Rowe brought it to the neighbour's house.
The court heard Rowe had no previous convictions, and his gun licence had since been rescinded.
The proceedings were reported on 15 November 2022.
