This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Albert Monahan received a fully suspended four-year sentence for pension fraud at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 29 October 2015. He had pleaded guilty to four sample theft counts and producing a false instrument after collecting his brother’s pension payments.

The payments totalled €77,964 and covered 356 weekly instalments collected between November 2007 and October 2014. Judge Melanie Greally said Monahan’s poor health was the only reason she did not impose imprisonment; the report said he had suffered several heart attacks and undergone triple bypass surgery.
