Alan Harte was on trial at the Central Criminal Court, charged with murdering Peter Gunn, 28, in Cabra Park, Cabra, on 4 January 2009. He has pleaded not guilty. The proceedings were reported on 3 April 2014.
The report described the allegation as stabbing Mr Gunn to death and dumping his body in a water-filled ditch. Prosecution witness Kastriot Boza testified on 2 April 2014 that he saw Mr Harte stab Mr Gunn in the chest shortly after hearing them exchange words about Mr Harte’s uncle. He said the stabbing happened at his bedsit in Cabra Park.
During cross-examination on 3 April 2014, defence barrister Patrick Marrinan SC suggested that Mr Boza had killed Mr Gunn after Mr Gunn teased him about being questioned in connection with a sexual assault. Mr Boza agreed he had been questioned, but said Mr Gunn had never mentioned it to him.
Mr Marrinan also suggested that Mr Boza had threatened to kill Mr Gunn. Mr Boza denied this. He also denied killing Mr Gunn, threatening Mr Harte with a knife or telling him he would cut up and dump the body.
The trial continued before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of six men and six women.
