This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Alan Boggans lost his appeal against conviction for possession with intent to supply cannabis at the Court of Appeal on 9 March 2015. The court was dealing with a conviction arising from a trial in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

He had been found guilty of possessing cannabis resin worth approximately €2 million with intent to supply, alongside two related offences under sections 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. He was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment for the section 15A offence, while the other offences were taken into consideration.

The appeal challenged the search warrant, the arrest and aspects of the trial, including disclosure, CCTV evidence and the trial judge’s interventions. Mr Justice Sheehan rejected those arguments, finding that Boggans had received a fair trial, and the appeal was dismissed. The proceedings were reported on 9 March 2015.
