Aivar Kuura was jailed for three and a half years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine and heroin. The proceedings were reported on 18 January 2023.

Judge Martin Nolan sentenced Kuura after Gardaí found 102 grammes of cocaine, crack cocaine rocks and two stashes of heroin at his Dublin flat on 16 October 2020. The cocaine had an estimated street value of €7,504, while the heroin was estimated at €46,400.

Kuura admitted allowing his flat to be used to cook cocaine and store heroin. His defence said he came to Ireland from Estonia in 2003 and had received disability benefit for many years after a long-term illness diagnosis in 2008.

The report also said Michal Pozniakow pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis at his home and possessing cocaine at Kuura’s flat. Judge Nolan jailed Pozniakow for 21 months after Gardaí found seven mature cannabis plants valued at €5,600 and younger plants at his Blessington home.

Pozniakow’s defence cited long-standing drug addiction and mental health issues, while the prosecuting Garda agreed there were ‘no signs of wealth’ in his home.
