A Dublin youth was given a six-month custodial sentence in Dublin Children's Court for conveying drugs into a prison. The youth pleaded guilty to that charge, connected to a seizure on 31 October 2012. The proceedings were reported on 13 February 2014. The court heard that cannabis and tablets were hidden in Kinder eggs between his buttock cheeks; the defence said he had been visiting two relatives in prison, while Garda Sheryl Wolfe agreed he was co-operative on arrest. Judge John O'Connor had previously ordered drug treatment and an educational course, but finalised the case after a negative probation report. The youth had also pleaded guilty to assaulting a staff member at a juvenile detention centre in January 2012.
