A 79-year-old man’s sentence appeal for rape was struck out by the Court of Appeal on 16 June 2016 after his death. The Dublin man had been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Central Criminal Court for raping his two daughters and sexually abusing his son.

He was convicted in August 2010 of 87 sexual assault and rape counts, after denying the charges. His appeal against conviction had been dismissed on all grounds, but the court was told his sentence appeal could no longer proceed.
