This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The 45-year-old man must serve six years for child abuse offences after the Court of Appeal decision delivered on 29 November 2021. He had been sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for sexually assaulting a boy, sexually exploiting a boy and producing child abuse images.

The Court of Appeal overturned the original five-year term as unduly lenient. The man had also admitted possessing child abuse material for distribution and possessing images, videos, texts and documents on computer media.

The court refused a request from victims’ parents to identify him, because naming him could identify the victims. The sentencing court had previously imposed the five-year term after hearing evidence about extensive child abuse material found at his Dublin home.
