A 22-year-old man was jailed for six sexual assaults, receiving four years with the final 12 months suspended for three years on strict conditions.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual assault on a trial date.

The assaults occurred at his family home in Co Kildare between July and October 2019, when he and the girl were both 16.

Defending counsel asked the judge to consider his age, guilty plea, immaturity and blurred understanding of consent; the plea was accepted as assisting the prosecution.
