A man has been convicted of murdering a Sligo musician following three separate trials. Keith Brady, aged 32, of Cartron Estate in Sligo, was found guilty of the murder of Martin Kivlehan at the Central Criminal Court. The offence occurred on 2 or 3 August 2015 at Mr Kivlehan's home on Holborn Street in Sligo. Brady had initially denied the charge but subsequently offered a plea of guilty to manslaughter, which the Director of Public Prosecutions rejected. The jury, comprising eight men and four women, reached their guilty verdict after deliberating for one hour and 25 minutes. This conviction followed two earlier trials, during which a jury previously failed to reach agreement on a verdict and a second trial collapsed after a broadcast programme that the trial judge considered likely to have prejudiced the jury.
