An unnamed 16-year-old boy was sentenced at the Central Criminal Court on 23 July 2021 to two years’ detention and a further two years’ supervision for violent disorder. Mr Justice David Keane imposed the sentence.
He had pleaded guilty to violent disorder. The separate charge of producing a knife was discontinued on 16 June 2021 after two key witnesses failed to attend, and the trial was brought to an end.
The defence maintained that two other boys had knives, not the defendant. He said his memory was “a bit hazy” and that he had flashbacks, but the judge did not accept his lapses of memory.
