Cúl na Sméar roadshow seeks the stories behind local placenames

Residents can share the names and stories of familiar local places at Halla Chúl na Sméar on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The drop-in session runs from 2pm to 4pm and forms part of Cad As Duit? Logainmneacha an Déise, organised by Waterford City and County Council's placenames committee with Creative Ireland Waterford support. Short talks, stories and maps will introduce work already collected and give visitors an opportunity to add local knowledge. The council says the bilingual event is free, refreshments will be provided and advance booking is not required.
