The Labour Court increased Martin Corboy’s compensation for constructive unfair dismissal to €18,000, varying an earlier Adjudication Officer award of €1,060. The decision was signed on 28 August 2025.
Corboy resigned after City Colleges Education Ltd proposed cutting his hourly rate from €100 to €50 and reducing his teaching hours. The Court found the proposal repudiated a core contract term and that the company had not addressed his concerns or offered work after the layoff. The company said the changes followed the pandemic, denied its conduct justified constructive dismissal and argued he had not used its grievance process.
