The Labour Court varied a €13,300 unfair dismissal award to €5,641.80 after rejecting an appeal by Conor Mc Laughlin Mc Morrow & McLaughlin Solicitors. The determination was signed on 4 February 2021.
The Court found that changes to Ciara Monaghan’s contract, including reduced annual leave and a new probation requirement, were a significant breach. It said she was entitled to treat her employment as ended after trying to resolve her grievances without success. The award reflected nine weeks before she found a new job and the weekly wage difference up to the Labour Court hearing.
