The Labour Court found that Rares Iacob was unfairly dismissed by Aran Security Limited and awarded him €2,500 for financial loss. The determination was signed on 7 July 2017. It overturned the earlier failure for want of prosecution, which followed Iacob’s non-attendance; the merits were not decided at that hearing. Aran Security said it selected Iacob for redundancy because he did not have the driving licence needed for the remaining site work. The Court found he had sufficient service to bring his complaint. It noted that he took about five months to find alternative employment.
