The Labour Court upheld a €1,000 award to Elke Williams after Camphill Communities Of Ireland’s appeal over her complaint that she had not received written terms of employment failed. The determination was dated 7 September 2021.
Camphill argued that Williams was a long-term co-worker rather than an employee covered by the Terms of Employment (Information) Act 1994. The Court had already determined in a linked case that she was an employee, and it was not disputed that she had received no written statement of her terms.
The Court found that the Act had been breached and said the €1,000 compensation recommended by the adjudication officer should be paid. It upheld the adjudication officer’s decision.
