The Labour Court increased Ioan Alin Andrei's compensation from €500 to €1,680 after his appeal over written terms of employment succeeded. The determination was dated 7 January 2020.

Andrei said Macrea's Takeaway Limited, trading as Macari's, never gave him written terms and that its document was created after he left. He worked as a counter assistant from 29 June 2017 until resigning on 15 February 2018. The company submitted a statement of terms dated 29 June 2017 but did not attend the hearing.

The Court said it could not establish where the document came from or whether it had been given to Andrei. It found, on the balance of probabilities, that he had not received a copy of his terms and conditions. The Court awarded four weeks' salary at €420 a week, totalling €1,680, and varied the earlier €500 award.
