Labour Court sets aside €750 award to Garry Walsh on QSC Medical appeal

The Labour Court set aside a €750 award to Garry Walsh after allowing QSC Medical’s appeal, in a determination dated 14 November 2017. The award had followed a finding that QSC Medical failed to provide Walsh with a contract within the statutory time limit. Walsh told the Court that his complaint concerned an unpaid expense claim and that he had made no other claim. The Court found that the Terms of Employment (Information) Acts placed no obligation on an employer to pay expenses, and found no evidence Walsh had complained about the contract issue decided by the adjudication officer. It ruled that the award did not relate to a complaint Walsh had made and set it aside.
