The Labour Court has affirmed a decision rejecting Robert Kowcz’s redundancy-pay complaint against Derry Court Company Limited. The decision, signed on 18 August 2025, found he was not entitled to a statutory redundancy payment. Kowcz said his cleaner and driver role ended when the Central Mental Hospital moved from Dundrum to Portrane and that he was not offered suitable alternative work. The company said he chose not to transfer and was never its employee. The Court found he had refused the transfer and had not entered into an employment contract with the company.
