Labour Court amends redundancy payment determination on employer’s appeal

The Labour Court amended a redundancy payment determination after Anthony Moran appealed the adjudication officer’s decision concerning Magdalena Kanik. The determination was signed on 19 October 2021. Moran accepted that Kanik was entitled to statutory redundancy but argued that her redundancy date was 7 January 2018, when his Dublin gift shop ceased trading. The Court set that as her termination date and determined that her redundancy entitlement was based on employment beginning on 10 September 2012, ending on 7 January 2018, and gross weekly pay of €370.50. The Labour Court amended the adjudication officer’s decision accordingly.
