The Labour Court rejected Isabella Di Simo’s appeal against Mr Garrett Browne t/a Garrett Stevens Hair Studio over her claim for statutory redundancy. The determination was signed on 23 September 2019. The adjudication officer had found the claim not well founded. Di Simo had worked as a hair stylist for Browne at his Harold’s Cross salon from 2003. Browne offered her continued employment on the same terms at his salon in Nutgrove Shopping Centre. Di Simo declined, saying the arrangement would not suit her or her client base and seeking redundancy instead. The Court found the offer was suitable alternative employment and her refusal unreasonable; it noted that a trial period had been available.
