The Labour Court rejected Ivor Stoops’s appeal and confirmed Santa Laivina’s entitlement to a statutory redundancy lump sum. In a determination dated 28 September 2016, it said the payment should be calculated using her employment dates and weekly pay of €141.40. Laivina worked as a mushroom farm worker for Stoops from 4 October 2011 to 17 April 2015. She was temporarily laid off while upgrading work began at the mushroom-growing plant, but the work was never completed.
