The Labour Court rejected Ivor Stoops’s appeal and confirmed Mihails Laivins’s entitlement to a statutory redundancy lump sum. In a determination dated 28 September 2016, it said the payment should be calculated using his employment dates and weekly pay of €345.80. Laivins worked as a mushroom farm worker from 29 July 2002 to 17 April 2015. He was temporarily laid off while upgrading work began at the mushroom-growing plant, but the work was never completed.
