The Labour Court rejected Papu Stores Ltd’s appeal and upheld Paulina Witczak’s entitlement to statutory redundancy pay, in a determination dated 26 July 2016. The earlier Adjudication Officer had awarded €4,344. Witczak worked as a supervisor at the company’s Galway store, which closed in March 2015. The Court found the alternative work offered was neither full-time nor comparable in nature and location to her contracted role. It confirmed her entitlement for employment from April 2010 to 29 March 2015, based on weekly pay of €400.
