The Labour Court decided that the Construction Industry Registered Employment Agreement did not apply to Medical & Industrial Pipeline Systems Ltd or the workers represented by the Operative Plasterers Allied Trade Society I Reland. The decision was signed on 1 September 2008. The union argued that the company’s plumbers were covered by the agreement. The company said its work installing specialist medical gas equipment fell outside the construction activities covered by the agreement and that its pension and sick leave entitlements exceeded those provided for under it.
