The Labour Court overturned an Adjudication Officer’s decision upholding Mairead Curry’s complaint against the Sign Language Interpreting Service over an alleged unlawful deduction from wages. The Court’s determination was dated 4 March 2020. Curry had told the Court in writing that she would not contest the service’s appeal, so the merits were not decided.

The Adjudication Officer had upheld Curry’s complaint under the Payment of Wages Act. On appeal, the Labour Court upheld the service’s appeal, overturned the earlier decision and said the appeal succeeded. The determination gives no amount for the original decision or the appeal outcome.
