The Labour Court overturned an Adjudication Officer’s decision and directed Sonoma Valley Ltd T/A GSLS to pay Bernard Stipic €666 for an unlawful wage deduction. The determination was dated 24 January 2019. Mr Stipic appealed, saying €666 remained due after he received €720 for outstanding annual leave. Sonoma Valley Ltd T/A GSLS said it deducted the money to recover the cost of unlocking work files after he left without working his notice or providing passwords. The Court found the company had not given him written details of the deduction at least a week beforehand and had provided no receipt for the claimed cost. It set aside the Adjudication Officer’s decision.
