The Labour Court awarded Mr Vasile Mateiu €1,560 after finding Auto Depot Limited failed to give him a written statement of his employment terms. The Court signed its determination on 2 October 2019.
The Court rejected his complaints of constructive dismissal, unpaid statutory notice and excessive working hours. It found he had not reasonably pursued his grievance before resigning, had no notice entitlement after ending his own employment, and had not shown that he worked more than an average of 48 hours a week.
The appeal also involved a dispute over the employer’s name. The Court amended it to Auto Depot Limited, finding the company had notice of the complaints and a full opportunity to answer them.
