The Labour Court rejected Enda Murphy’s appeal over unpaid estate agency work for Frank Regan T/A DNG Frank Regan, finding no employment contract had been agreed. It affirmed the Rights Commissioner/Adjudication Officer’s decision, dated 5 February 2018. Murphy said Regan offered him part-time work while he studied, at €18 to €20 an hour. He said he worked from 31 October 2013 to 14 June 2014 without pay or reimbursement of travel expenses. Regan said the arrangement was unpaid work experience and denied offering payment. The Court said Murphy had not shown that they had formalised an employment contract. It noted there had been no final agreement on an hourly rate and that Murphy had not provided a P45 or bank details to facilitate payment.
