The Labour Court rejected Colin Matchett’s appeal against Aer Lingus (Ireland) Limited and upheld the decision that the company made no unlawful deduction from his wages. The determination was dated 14 May 2018. Matchett’s appointment letter put him on point 2 of the senior cabin crew pay scale after his promotion, but Aer Lingus later said he should have been on point 1. The company recovered €1,289 from his wages over 2017 after reducing its original repayment request. The Court found there was no agreed provision placing cabin crew on point 2 after promotion, and that the deduction was lawful under his contract.
