The Labour Court dismissed Catholic University School’s appeal and upheld the €2,500 compensation award to part-time teacher Aoife Keogh. The determination was signed on 22 April 2009. The Court found that the employer’s reasons for treating Keogh less favourably than her chosen full-time comparator were insufficient. She had left the job before making her complaint, so the Court considered compensation appropriate. It could not hear a further alleged penalisation claim because it had not been before the Rights Commissioner. Keogh’s separate Fixed-Term Work Act claim was not part of the appeal.
