The Labour Court has allowed Debenhams Retail (Ireland) Limited (In Liquidation)’s appeal and set aside a €900 award to former catering assistant Breda Cox. The decision was signed on 27 November 2025. Cox alleged that the company had failed to comply with section 9 of the Protection of Employment Act 1977. She withdrew her appeal and did not contest the employer’s appeal. The Court said it considered a previous Labour Court decision on identical facts and the High Court’s ruling in a linked case.
