Labour Court says PepsiCo redundancies were not exceptional collective redundancies

The Labour Court concluded that Pepsico Ireland Food and Beverage Limited’s proposed redundancies were not exceptional collective redundancies. The opinion was signed on 29 May 2012 and concerned three disputed dismissals after agreement had been reached on five others. The Court found the proposed Management Accountant role materially different from the Finance Analyst role. It also found that four Accounts Executive posts would split the work of two National Accounts Managers, serving fewer customers with smaller sales budgets and less responsibility. The case was referred by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and opposed by a Group of Workers.
