The Labour Court has allowed Chicken Castle Limited Chicken Club’s appeal and set aside an Adjudication Officer’s decision in a minimum wage complaint by Suman Bhurtel. The Court signed its decision on 1 August 2025. Bhurtel alleged underpayment under the National Minimum Wage Act and said he worked an average of 70 hours a week. The Court found the complaint’s relevant period fell entirely after his employment ended and that the reasons given did not justify extending the time limit. It ruled the claim was statute-barred; Bhurtel’s cross-appeal failed.
