The Labour Court rejected Ioan Alin Andrei's minimum-wage appeal and upheld the Adjudication Officer's decision, in a determination dated 7 January 2020. The company did not attend the hearing. Andrei said he had not been paid the minimum wage. Macrea's Takeaway Limited, trading as Macari's, denied underpayment and submitted specimen payslips. The Court found his written request for an average hourly-rate statement did not identify a pay reference period, as required by section 23(3) of the National Minimum Wage Act, and held the request invalid.
