Labour Court directs Jazz Ventures to pay Anass Jeeawody €21,025.92

The Labour Court determined that Jazz Ventures Ltd must pay Anass Jeeawody €21,025.92 under a Rights Commissioner decision that the company had not implemented. The determination was signed on 20 May 2011.

Jeeawody complained under section 31(1) of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 that his former employer had failed to carry out the Rights Commissioner’s decision. He referred the implementation complaint to the Labour Court on 24 March 2011.

The Court recorded that the decision had not been carried out and that no appeal had been brought within the time limit. It therefore determined that Jazz Ventures pay Jeeawody the amount due under that decision. The determination concerns the failure to implement the earlier decision.
