The Labour Court reduced the minimum-wage award to Michael Strang Anderson to £3,547.20 (€4,504.01) after an appeal by Rink Air Conditioning Limited. Its determination, dated 24 October 2001, amended the Rights Commissioner's £3,863 award and ordered payment of the revised amount. Anderson, a sales engineer, said he had not been told at interview that his pay would be commission only and that the company had failed to pay him the minimum wage. The company disputed the hours and the original calculation, saying it had paid him £360 (€457.11). The Court accepted the £360 payment and deducted a further £140.80 (€178.78) for four days of absence. It calculated the amount due over 23 weeks at £176 (€223.47) a week, then made those deductions to reach the revised award.
