The Labour Court recommended that Eli Lilly Kinsale recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) as representative of its members among 80 operatives and engage with it on the dispute. The recommendation was dated 3 June 2025. SIPTU sought individual representation for members in grievance and disciplinary matters and collective representation on pay and employment terms. It said workers were not given the opportunity to have union representation during grievance or disciplinary procedures, and that pay had fallen behind industry comparators. Eli Lilly Kinsale declined to attend the hearing but submitted its position in writing. The Court said the employer’s non-participation deprived it of an opportunity to discuss the dispute with the company. It recommended that Eli Lilly Kinsale recognise SIPTU as representative of union members among the operatives and engage with it on the issues raised.
