The Labour Court recommended redundancy terms for 18 Workers affected by the planned closure of Aer Lingus-Iag Cargo’s Shannon cargo base, including a €15,000 service bonus for eligible workers and a cap of €180,000 on total payments. The recommendation was dated 24 October 2024.

The dispute between Aer Lingus-Iag Cargo and the workers, represented by SIPTU, concerned severance terms for redundancies expected at the end of November. The Court said redeployment opportunities were limited and considered the redundancies effectively compulsory, alongside previous redundancy terms, economic conditions and the likely availability of other work.

It recommended six weeks’ pay per completed year of service, including statutory redundancy entitlement, capped at 104 weeks’ pay. Workers with 15 years’ continuous service at the date of redundancy would also receive a €15,000 bonus. Total payments were capped at €180,000.
