Labour Court recommends Eirgrid review bonus communications with 470 Technical Staff

The Labour Court recommended that Eirgrid and 470 Technical Staff, represented by Unite the Union, review how they communicate about the 2020 performance bonus. The recommendation was signed on 26 July 2022. The union said Eirgrid reduced the bonus by 50% without adequate consultation and sought restoration of the full payment and compensation for delay. Eirgrid said it missed objectives during the pandemic and had engaged with the union. The Court found consultation had taken place and that the union had no veto, but said it should be consulted in good time to give meaningful input. It also recommended that Eirgrid reinstate its offer of one additional paid holiday day as a goodwill gesture, and that the parties clarify their dispute procedures.
