The Labour Court recommended a further 1.25% pay increase for workers at Apple Computers’ Hollyhill facility after considering a collective pay claim involving about 408 general operatives. The recommendation, signed on 1 July 2022, covered the period from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a 5.5% increase, citing inflation and rising living costs. Apple Computers said its 3% one-year offer was reasonable, and that it had already proposed and paid that increase backdated to 1 October 2021. The Labour Court said it had considered both sides’ submissions, particularly comparisons with pay settlements at companies in the region and sector.
