The Labour Court recommended that Cope Foundation and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union re-engage locally to resolve five care workers’ claim for retrospective incremental pay on the HSE scale. The workers sought the pay for the period from 29 March 2017 to 30 September 2020, saying they understood their salaries were aligned with the relevant HSE scale. Cope Foundation said a 2020 proposal provided incremental credit only where an individual contract expressly allowed it. The Court also recommended that the HSE’s separate once-off €3,000 payment undertaking be dealt with separately so it could be paid as soon as practicable to the wider SIPTU-represented group. The recommendation was signed on 27 June 2022.
