The Labour Court recommended a €3,000 lump sum and two additional days’ leave in each of 2022 and 2023 for 450 Staff relocating with the National Forensic Mental Health Service (Nfmhs) from Dundrum to Portrane. The recommendation was dated 30 May 2022 and forms the full and final settlement of the dispute. The unions PNA, SIPTU, FORSA, IMO and IHCA sought compensation, saying management had asked staff to move and offered no alternative redeployment. The service said the move was necessary because its existing facilities were inadequate and improved facilities were urgently needed. The Court noted that the relocation involved moving an entire secure healthcare facility, its patients and staff in one day. It also noted the need to retain experienced staff and the lack of redeployment or exit options.
