The Labour Court recommended changes to emergency on-call rosters at HSE Mayo University Hospital and Community Healthcare West, while declining to recommend concession of carpenters’ allowance claim. Its recommendation was signed on 8 October 2021. The Court recommended that all eligible staff be able to join the on-call roster voluntarily from 1 January 2022, with advance engagement and losses addressed under the Public Service Agreement. Separate rosters for the hospital and Community Healthcare West were recommended from 1 January 2023, with the same engagement and loss arrangements. The union, Connect Trade Union, said three carpenters had handled on-call work and should receive the allowance. The Court did not recommend conceding that claim at that time.
