The Labour Court recommended that GDCL Consulting Engineers pay a worker €45,000 to settle a dispute over severance and outstanding payments. The recommendation was signed on 8 September 2021. The worker said the employment ended unexpectedly and sought severance, payment for 16 days of untaken annual leave, more than €6,000 in expenses and contractual notice. The employer said the employment ended by agreement and that it had put forward a severance package. It did not attend the hearing but sent a letter setting out its position. The worker referred the dispute under section 20(1) of the Industrial Relations Act 1969 and agreed to be bound by the recommendation.
