The Labour Court recommended pay increases for workers at Applus Inspections Services Ireland Ltd / Applus Car Testing Services, with no recommendation on a disputed shift rate while covering non-core shifts remained voluntary. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought annual increases and the same rate for core and non-core workers covering non-core shifts. The employer cited pandemic losses, operating costs and capital investment, and said workers were paid above market rates, but provided no supporting documentation. The Court recommended increases of 1.5% from 1 September 2020, 2% from 1 April 2021 and 2.5% from 1 April 2022. The recommendation was signed on 25 August 2021. It said the shift rate should be considered if the voluntary arrangement changed.
